How to change Ghostcat Brake Pads

What this video covers

Replacing worn brake pads (front or rear — the brakes are identical). No bleeding required.

Steps

  1. Remove the caliper with a 5 mm (two bolts, top and bottom).
  2. Recess the pistons: gently push the exposed silver pistons back into the caliper with a flathead or a pad spreader until no silver shows on either side.
  3. Remove the 3 mm pin holding the pads, then push the old pads out the top.
  4. Slide the new pads in and reinstall the pin (low torque — shimmy it to find the hole).
  5. Reposition the caliper over the rotor, snug the bolts and back off a quarter turn, then roll the bike back and forth while squeezing the brake to center the caliper — tighten while holding the brake.

Tip: replace your pads when the levers start to feel squishy — new pads bring the lever action right back.
